December 2 - 3, 2010 European Conference "Media Literacy for All" organized under the Belgian Presidency of the European Union by the Higher Council for 1Media Literacy at the European Parliament and Institut des Hautes Etudes des Communications Sociales in Brussels. June 8, 2010 Media Education Center participates in the round-table discussion dedicated to Armenian language content on Wikipedia organized by Armenian Association for Academic Partnership and Support - ARMACAD on 1June 8, 2010, at the Yerevan-based Youth Center.  The administrators and the authors of the free on-line encyclopedia presented their insights to the audience of students, teachers and representatives of scientific community. Armenian Wikipedia, which has been available since 2006 (http://hy.wikipedia.org/) has already 9100 articles in Armenian.

"Is it proportionate to cut access to the Internet for protecting copyright? eurodigShould Internet operators be liable for content published by their users? What role should Europe have in discussions concerning the regulation of the Internet across borders?" - these and other issues related to children’s use of social media, data protection, the emergence of cloud computing and the Internet in 2020 were disscussed. February 12 – April 01, Dissemination of a new Internet Safety Guide for Teachers, Parents and Children and World Vision's "Keep the Children Safe Online" 1interactive CD among children and youth. The two resources teach that the Internet can be a great educational tool and a fun place for children and educate them about risks, negative content, their rights to privacy.

February 09, 2010 - Seminar “Safer Internet Day” with education and ICT stakeholders organized in the frame of the Safer Internet Day by Media Education Center in partnership with Microsoft Armenia, World Vision. Representatives of National Center of Educational Technologies, NGOs, secondary school and 1university teachers, media, youth took part in the seminar. Outcomes of a public opinion poll by Media Education Center to reveal the attitudes of parents and teachers to cyber security, media literacy and internet accessibility issues have been discussed. January 28, 2010 Internet Safety Guide for Teachers, Parents and Children by Media Education Center is available on-line. The guide highlights possible threats for children and gives advises how to behave safely being on-line and not reveal personal information. It describes the the opportunities and dangers new information and communication technologies bring.

 

January 26, 2010, 250 participants gathered at the Yerevan Secondary and High School after Chekhov, located in the Armenian capital, to discuss children's on-line behaviour and risks. The meeting was a launch of month-long celebrations of the Safer Internet Day in Armenia organized by Media Education Center. 1Parents, teachers and NGO representatives took part in the meetng. February 10, 2009 : Media Education Center launched of a new web resource www.saferinternet.nt.am with links to teaching and learning resources on safety issues. Information campaign. The web-site contains sections on blogs, chat rooms, social networks, file-sharing and filtering and . Internet-related risks, such as cyber-bulling, fishing, farming, Internet fraud and identity theft. Links to the new web-site are placed on several school web-sites. The web-site highlights such issues as copyright and protection of private information.
