INET 2013 'Internet in Armenia: Paving a road to the future

 

October 8, 2013.  Experts of Safer Internet Armenia took part in the INET 2013 'Internet in Armenia: Paving a Road to the Future' international conference, presenting child on-line protection projects and initiatives carried out by Media Education Center in the capital of Armenia and the regions since 2009.

 

An Introduction to Internet Governance 4th Edition in Armenian 

An Introduction to Internet Governance 4th edition by Dr Jovan Kurbalija (DiploFoundation, 2010) has been published in Armenian. The Armenian version of the book Համացանցի կառավարում’ has been produced by the Media Education Center and the Internet Society of Armenia. 

An Introduction  to Internet  Governance  provides a  comprehensive overview of the main  issues  and actors in  the  field,  focusing on technical,  legal,  economic, development,  and sociocultural aspects of Internet governance. Armenian citizens participate in EuroDIG through remote Hubs

June 25, 2013. Armenian citizens participated in the EuroDIG Forum in Lisbon on June 20 and 21 through several hubs organised in Yerevan. The hubs were supported by the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, Media Education Center, ISOC Armenia, Union of Information Technology Enterprises and iDITORD. The work of the Armenian Hubs enabled not only the remote participation in the Forum, but also served as a prerequisite to establish the Armenian Internet Governance Forum. Read more...

Armenian School Children Participate in 1st Children's Forum at ICANN

April 12, 2013. Media Education Center, as part of the European NGO Alliance for Child Safety On-line (eNACSO), took part in the 1st Children’s Forum in ICANN 46 April 6-12, 2013 in Beijing. Students of the Yerevan-based Anania Shirakatsy Lyceum, recognized the best school in frames of Safer Internet Armenia 2012 Program, received the opportunity to participate in the 5 days Children's Forum, which gathered 10 children's groups and child-led organizations from all over the world. Armenian delegates, Eva Musaelyan, Arman Tsirunyan and Lily Saroyan presented their ideas and opinions about Internet issues and policies related to them. Children discussed the way forward, built the connections, participated in meetings and public forum, discussed and formulated points of new child protection policies in connection to child-related new gTLDs, addressed the ICANN public with the Declaration, spoke to the President and CEO of ICANN Fadi Chehadé. SID 2013 in Armenia: Orange Advocates Safer Internet Use

February 5, 2013. Today over 100 countries are celebrating Safer Internet Day. This year Orange Armenia, Media Education Center, Internet Society of Armenia launched the “Safer Internet Armenia” project. In frames of the Safer Internet Armenia 2013 over 300 teachers from 150 schools will be trained and over 3000 students will take part in open lessons on Internet safety. This year a special attention is paid to engaging parents, who will take part in numerous workshops held in Armenia's capital city and regions. On the Safer Internet Day 2013 the Best Open Lesson and the Best e-Poster Competitions are announced among school children and teachers. Read more

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Safer Internet Armenia 2013 Launched

February 5, 2013. Open lesson on Internet Safety organized at the Yerevan School N 100 marked the launch of the Safer Internet 2013 activities in Armenia this year. Mass media representatives gathered at the school to listen to children's opinions regarding their rights and responsibilities on the Internet. This is the 5th year Armenia celebrates the Safer Internet Day, attracting a growing interest among different  strata of the population. The Best Open Lesson and the Best e-Poster Competitions are announced among school children and teachers by Media Education Center, Internet Society of Armenia and Orange Armenia foundation. Connect With Respect: Remember Your Online Rights and Responsibilities

February 5, 2013. Today the Insafe and INHOPE networks (the European network of Safer Internet Centres and the International Association of Internet Hotlines respectively), are celebrating Safer Internet Day (SID) for the tenth year running. An initiative of the European Commission’s Safer Internet Programme, this day marks an annual opportunity to engage in making the internet a safer and better place for our children and young people. Safer Internet Armenia 2013 Action Program Approved

On January 25, 2013. the Armenian Safer Internet Committee approved the 2013 Action Program. This year a special attention is paid to raising awareness and educating  the parents. Since 2009, the Safer Internet Committee  has coordinated  the Safer Internet Armenia program, aimed at improving citizens' safety in relation to digital media, raising their awareness about safe Internet use, their digital rights. The program's goal is to provide citizens with comprehensive information about e-safety issues and informs about risks, offers teaching materials on safe use of Internet and mobile technologies.
