Safer Internet Day 2012: Discover the Digital World Together ... safely!
February 7, 2012 On the occasion of Safer Internet Day, Orange Armenia joined the Safer Internet Committee in implementing Safer Internet Armenia 2012, a large-scale project aimed at promoting a safe internet environment.
Within the framework of the one-month project, approximately 300 high school teachers are being trained in the principles of internet safety, while more than 5,000 schoolchildren and students of pedagogical universities are taking part in open lessons on these topics.
Starting from today, Orange shops will offer customers not only leading Kaspersky antivirus programs, but also an additional electronic security package from this global leader in internet safety. The Kaspersky Internet Security program enables parents to better protect their children from inappropriate and harmful online content. Orange began collaborating with Kaspersky Lab as early as September 2011, when all customers were given the opportunity to try the Kaspersky antivirus program free of charge. With this new offering, the company is taking another step toward promoting safer internet use.
“As part of our collaboration with Kaspersky Lab, the global leader in internet safety, our 70,000 internet customers can supervise their children’s online activities. However, providing a software solution alone is not enough to ensure complete online protection. In Armenia, we deliver internet services, and our leading position in mobile internet gives us the responsibility to support, educate, and guide our customers in the safe use of the internet. As part of our corporate social responsibility, we have joined this initiative with great pleasure, as it aims to provide the tools for safe internet use.”
On January 19, 2012, at the initiative of the European Union, 25 companies from across the information and communications technology sector signed the “Safer Internet for Children” declaration, expressing their commitment to providing a safer online environment, particularly for children. Along with France Telecom Orange, the declaration was signed by companies including Google, Facebook, Deutsche Telekom, RIM, Nokia, Telecom Italia, Vodafone, and others.
